Cost of Living

The cost of living can have at least three meanings:

  1. The cost of meeting basic needs, in terms of fiscal impositions (invoices to satisfy), duties and obligations (things that must be done)
  2. The drain to emotions caused by circumstances, esp. if nothing major changes
  3. The cost, fiscal or otherwise, of making major investments (e.g. writing a novel, getting a college degree, raising children, fostering a business to profitability)
